Hydrogen water intake via tube-feeding for patients with pressure ulcer and its reconstructive effects on normal human skin cells in vitro.

Twenty-two patients were retrospectively divided into an effective group (EG, n = 12) and a less effective group (LG, n = 10) according to the outcomes of endpoint evaluation and the healing criteria. PU hospitalized days in EG were significantly shorter than in LG (113.3 days vs. 155.4 days, p < 0.05), and the shortening rate was approximately 28.1%. Either in EG or in LG, the reducing changes (EG: 91.4%; LG: 48.6%) of wound size represented statistically significant difference versus before Hydrogen Water intake (p < 0.05, p < 0.001). The in vitro data demonstrate that intracellular ROS (Free radicals) as quantified by NBT assay was diminished by Hydrogen Water, but not by Regular Water.

Erythema of these 4 patients and associated symptoms improved significantly after the Hydrogen treatment and did not recur. Administration of H2 did not change physiological parameters and did not cause deterioration of the blood chemistry.

Drinking deuterium depleted water (DDW) for five weeks contributed to the overall correction of age-related disorders of the adaptive status, estrous cycle regulation and nonspecific resistance, as well as the appearance of visually distinct signs of rejuvenation of aging female rats (20–22 months).

This study confirms other references studies that shows, that a link between aging and Deuterium is well established in that D2O concentrations exceeding the natural level resulted in numerous adverse effects:
- Reduced the life-span of mice (Czajka and Finkel, 1960)
- Increased viral mutation rates (Konrad, 1960)
- Deuteration of synthetic estrogen hormones weakened its estrogenic properties (Thompson, 1963)
- Deuterated enzymes exhibited conformational changes, affecting their active sites (Van Hook, 1971)
- The skin became enriched in deuterium along a temporal aging axis (Griffiths, 1973)
The study goes on to discuss and conclude that Deuterium Depleted Light Water (DDW) did counteract the shortened life-span resulting from the study setup, but from that data alone and the short exposure time, the study could by itself not prove that DDW in general increased lifespan. The authors did however go on to take more of the known data into account, when they stated the following:
“…we cannot rule out that long term application of DDW will increase the life-span by reducing the number of gene alterations. Considering that the main pharmaceutical intervention with DDW is in cancer therapy (where conventional treatments cause strong side effects), future studies should further evaluate whether the application of DDW may be used to prevent or reduce the severity of the cytotoxic effect associated with conventional chemotherapies.”

Results of 28 days of drinking 1 liter of DDW revealed in every subject an improvement in health and reduced anxiety with improved psychological response.
The positive influence of drinking light DDW water on blood chemistries included a significant reduction of glycose, cholesterol, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, leukocyte counts and cortisol levels, while also revealed an increase in antioxidant capacities.
Volunteers who consumed 1 liter of light DDW water per day improved their hemodynamic parameters (i.e.: increased stroke volume and cardiac output, decreased total peripheral vascular resistance), which had a positive impact on overall physical performance and aerobic metabolism during an exercise.
